These are some points that we should consider when we think about competition…

I believe competition is not a good thing because when we compete with people we become selfish. We work to beat others for our victory to win the competition. It makes us happy when we get a reward through competition but at the same time, it makes others sad and depressed. We should not compete, we should collaborate. There’s competition in almost everything we see in the world. We are working to knock down each other so that we can rise, but I don’t think it’s a good thing, I really believe it’s a destructive and painful thing.

It’ selfish to beat someone to win, someone who never does anything wrong to us. Someone who is just a human like us, who deserve joy and peace, not defeat. When we win a game, everyone appreciates us. And the one who loses and fails gets discouraged and criticized. So it’s painful. There should be competition in being generous, and competition in helping others. There should be competition in serving those in need, and competition in giving hope and courage to people. But there’s no competition in these things.

We are not here to compete and fight with each other, we are here to help each other so that we all can succeed, this is what I believe. Competition stands people against each other, not with each other and for each other. Competition doesn’t make us strong, it makes us selfish. It teaches us that it’s okay to defeat others for our benefit, and it’s okay to let them down. Competition should be with our own selves, the competition to be better than we were yesterday. Competition to be kind than we were before. And the competition to inspire people by our good deeds.

Yes, we need competition, the type of competition that doesn’t require us to beat others for our victory… but to work with each other for our collective benefit!
